Natural Language Processing

You may have already heard of Natural Language Processing, or NLP.

But what is it, exactly?

NLP is a type of AI that focuses on helping computers understand human language.

Early iterations of NLP were simple and primitive. They could process basic language inputs.

Over time, it has evolved to interpret and even create human language.

We’ll follow that growth in a way that helps explain how this part of AI works behind the scenes.

Remember how I said computers are good at things like numbers and math?

Well, human language isn’t simple like math. It’s messy. It’s hard to master. It has lots of weird rules.

To help computers understand it, we had to make language a little easier to work with.

To do that, we needed to teach computers those rules.
